With Capt. Jim Brincefield and Crew Aboard the Chesapeake Bay Built Custom Charter Boat

In Order To Ensure That Your Outing is a Safe and Memorable Voyage, the "Jil Carrie" is:

An annually inspected U.S. Coast Guard "T" Boat. It's a safe, dependable, sturdy 19 gross     ton, 50' long by 16' wide custom bay built dead rise charter fishing vessel which is USCG licensed for up to 49 passengers. The vessel and hull was conceived and designed by Capt. Jim Brincefield, Mike Hutchins of Charter Marine Service and by shipwright Ronnie Carman of Crisfield, Maryland in the Winter of  1997.  In the spring and summer of 1998 Mr. Carman built the custom hull by hand.  Mr. Hutchins took over from there and finished the cabin and installation of the motors and running gear under the supervision of Capt. Jim Brincefield.  Capt Al Jones and Capt. Jim Brincefield brought the vessel home to Deale, Maryland in September of 1998 where they were joined by Capt. Vince Austin to assist with finishing the vessel.  So the 4 of us, Capt. Jim Brincefield, Capt. Al Jones, Mr. Mike Hutchins and Capt. Vince Austin worked night and day for more than three weeks to get the vessel finished.  It was quite a task, but we finished the vessel and had our U.S. Coast Guard inspection and stability test completed and passed on 10/1/98.  We continue to make improvements on the vessel every year in the off season.

Equipped with twin John Deere Marine turbocharged 220 horsepower diesel engines. These  superb engines provide speed, safety, and dependability for your excursion. It's about time someone in the marine engine industry stepped up to the plate. These powerful and efficient engines translate to shorter running times to fishing grounds and more fishing time. These engines also allow us to explore more fishing grounds in each excursion!  These engines are expertly serviced and maintained by the staff at Carroll's Equipment John Deere mega facility in Dameron, MD.  All replacement parts in our motors are new, original John Deere equipment.  The staff at Carroll's is expertly supervised by head mechanic Joe Gerek.

1st Mate:
Capt. Al "The Livin' Legend" Jones

No one is quite sure just how old Capt. Al "The Livin' Legend" Jones really is, but we do know that he bravely fought in WWII serving his country aboard a NAVY destroyer.  As you can see from the above photo, he REALLY looks the part.  I took this picture of Capt. Al in the winter of 1992 while laying flat on the deck of the "Charlotte K" capturing for posterity Capt. Al silhouetted against a winter azure sky.  The final result was, in effect, one of the best pictures I have ever taken.  He is a lifetime fisherman and is a captain aboard his own Charter Boat out of Deale and the owner of the "My Bea".  He brings a lot of experience and know how with him on our excursions.  His favorite fish is the Gray Trout ("known as the "Weakfish").  Capt. Al enjoys spending time aboard the "My Bea" with his girlfriend Suzie engaged in either hook and line commercial fishing, or just plain old recreational fishing.  See the article on Capt. Jones in our Fishing Articles Section.

1st Mate:
Dr. Karl "Stud Boy" Bieberich

"Fish fear him and women love him" our 1st Mate "Stud Boy" has been with us since he was 17 years old.  Now, as a grizzled veteran at 24, he spends most of his time when he is not working selling advertising for the Chesapeake Bay Magazine and chasing women in downtown Annapolis.  Prior to coming aboard with us 7 years ago, "Stud Boy" fished recreationally with his father, Ron, aboard the private vessel WORKING CAPITAL for a few years.  "Stud Boy" got his name because was the campus stud at his college, despite his fishy smell.  Now, for amusement, Karl likes to take his shirt off while we are coming up Rockhold Creek back to the wharf at the "Happy Harbor", oil his shaved chest down, and clean the fishing deck of the boat over and over again while flexing his muscles in front of the local cuties.  All of the assembled females spend hours gawking at him on the wharf.  His favorite fishing trip was the night he caught a Giant Sea Turtle amongst a bevy of plump Hardheads and Grey Trout. (Of course, Lumpy caught nothing that night.)  Karl enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time. Capt. Jim took him under his wing after his father issued a challenge that "MY boy can reel in all of the fish you can catch."  Fortunately for Karl, he was sadly mistaken.  On his first voyage, he was begging for mercy by 1:00 p.m. Stud Boy's favorite fish is the Rockfish.

Mate Emeritus:
Bob "Another Sandwich" Reed

Bob comes to us from Solomon's MD, the home of the great fishermen.  Bob is an experienced, able mate and we are pleased to have him with us.  Bob is the owner of "Bob-A-Long Tackle" which is his own tackle company.  Bob makes a variety of innovative lures like the "Whiffle Ball", the "Chugger" and the "Bob-A-Long Torpedo Trout Jig."  Be careful of your lunch though, Bob has a hollow leg and when it comes to sandwiches there is no creel limit.  Bob's favorite fish is the Oyster Toad caught only while falling over 5 gallon buckets.

1st Mate:
Zach "Sleepy" Stauffer

Zach combines all of the best traits of our Mates over the years: sleeping, eating, farting, and belching.  He is pictured above actively engaging in 3 of these worthy activities.  Zach grew up with our other 1st Mate - "Stud Boy" and they have been life long best friends.  Both of them claim that they get all of the girls though!  Zach was a recreational fisherman mainly on the Severn River before he joined our crew in June 2002.  Zach's favorite fishing is live lining for huge Rockfish.   Zach's favorite quote is "I love this country...it is a wonderful country... is this a great country, or what?"
