Congratulations to Mr. William C. Davis of Forestville, MD who caught a new pending International Game Fish Association ("IGFA") All Tackle World Record Blackbelly Rosefish. This Mandy Pepperidge  P-I-G weighed in at 4 pounds 3 ounces and was caught aboard the "Jil Carrie" on 5/7/08 at the Norfolk Canyon in The Atlantic Ocean.  This beauty had a length of 18.75" and a girth of 14.25".  The IGFA Application is being submitted and is a pending record.  A big thank you to our Virginia Beach area IGFA Representative Dr. Julie Ball for her assistance in submitting the application.  This is the 7th All Tackle World Record and/or State Record caught aboard the "Jil Carrie". "LUCKY #7"

The Dreams of Capt. JT Barker - May 2008

1st Mate gordy (on left) assists our good customer Mr. Ric "Yoda" Hensley of Virginia Beach, VA (on right) with a "Jil Carrie" 1st in species and long sought 28 pound Golden Tilefish.  Although it's a small one, it's a start!  What a beautiful fish and oh man it's good to get this one in the boat!

Our largest BEAST of the entire 2007 year - a 49" and 47 pound 3 ounce VA Weight Citation Striped Bass displayed by our lucky angler - Mr. Ted Jensen (on left) with an assist from 1st Mate Mr. T.J. Reiber (on right).  Caught aboard the Jil Carrie while trolling off of Cape Henry, VA - 12/22/07.

Lookin' down the business end of a Cuda caught trolling at the Chesapeake Light Tower aboard the Jil Carrie 9-14-07

Dateline 9/14/07 - the first Barracuda ever landed aboard the Jil Carrie!  Landed by a Maryland Saltwater Sportsman's Association Angler (in middle).  Co-Capt. Danny Davis (on left) and 2nd Mate in training Justin Creef - in need of a haircut (on right).  This Barracuda was caught trolling Clark Spoons at the Chesapeake Light Tower.

Capt. Mark "The Tilefish Slayer" Wray of Virginia Beach, VA (on left) and Capt. Danny Davis of Norfolk, VA (on right) display a beautiful Mahi Mahi that Capt. Danny caught and Capt. Mark gaffed while trolling aboard the "Jil Carrie" on 8/16/07.

Capt. Danny Davis landed and released this beautiful White Marlin while trolling aboard the "Jil Carrie" on 8/16/07.  Another new species!

A White Marlin landed aboard the "Jil Carrie"!  That's right, I said White Marlin.  This is Pic 1.  Capt. Danny Davis caught this beautiful White Marlin trolling aboard the "Jil Carrie" on 8/16/07.  Betcha never thought you'd see this alongside the "Jil Carrie" gunwale - (just prior to landing)!

Capt. Danny Davis displays our 1st ever in species False Albacore caught aboard the Jil Carrie while trolling 8/16/07. The poor bastage was later sacrificed for Tilefish and Shark bait...

Mr. Dan Campbell hooks our largest Mahi Mahi of the day (7/25/07) - what beautiful colors!  the camera never really seems to do justice to the brilliant colors of these fish.

Dateline 7/25/07, Atlantic Ocean off Virginia Beach Coast...In The Ripley's Believe It Or Not Jil Carrie category, this 1st Mahi Mahi of the day actually had 2 separate anglers hooks in his mouth simultaneously!!!

Dateline 7/10/07 aboard the "Jil Carrie" - yet ANOTHER new species of fish - TRIGGERFISH.  This tasty little critter has some really mean teeth - be careful!

On July 5, 2007 Mr. Eddie Earles and friend pose with another new species aboard the "Jil Carrie" - a HOUDFISH! What a strange critter this was leaping like a Marlin, fighting like a Bluefish, and slithering like an Eel!

July 2, 2007 - Here's a great story - Miss Allison Helmut - 8 years old of Eldersburg Maryland scored our largest Spadefish ever aboard the "Jil Carrie" - 9 pounds 13 ounces.  Miss Helmut was just one ounce off of tying the 8 year old IGFA World Record of 9-14!  She earned a VA weight citation!

New species aboard the "Jil Carrie" on back-to-back days.  Yesterday it was a Hammerhead Shark and today (6/30/07) it was a Mahi Mahi.

We unexpectedly landed our 1st ever Hammerhead Shark aboard the "Jil Carrie" - even though it was a small one - 41" from tip to tip!  Check out 1st Mate T.J. - "is that thing trying to bite me"???  Hopefully, it's the first of many...

Mr. Sean Finnegan of Richmond, VA caught our boat record Spadefish at the Chesapeake Light Tower on 6-21-07.  It weighed in at 9 pounds 12 ounces.  What a "whoppa"!

Proof that there are fishing gods aboard the Jil Carrie who smile down upon us - especially for Mr. Tim Matthew (who organized this trip on 5/12/07 for his Mom and family and for his Mother's Happy Mother's Day present) - here's his mother, and she catches the biggest Flounder AND a VA Weight Citation - 26.25" and 7 pounds 13 ounces ON HER FIRST EVER FISHING TRIP THE DAY BEFORE MOTHER'S DAY - WOO HOO! Oh yeah -and check out the two fellas behind her (her brother on right and Mr. Tim Matthew, her son, on left) - "can you believe she caught THAT fish on us"?  OH, that's so schweet!   Ms. Janet Belt - Welcome to the Chesapeake Bay!

Thanks again for a wonderful trip.  Everyone had a good time and agreed the drive was sorth it.  No big fish this trip, but we'll get'em next time, and I never somplain about leaving the boat with our limit...which you've always managed to produce.  See ya in VA Beach this summer with some of thir crew I'm sure...Dave Ryker
